In marketing, an influencer is somebody who has built a close relationship with their audience on social media, and who consequently has the authority and power to influence others when it comes to purchasing decisions. Influencers generally have specialised expertise, knowledge or insight into a specific subject. There are influencers of different sizes, having a large following is not necessarily what makes somebody an influencer. When an influencer collaborates with a brand this is called influencer marketing.
